Artist and Editor Jenna Fox - Latest commission "VIBE"
I am so pleased to have completed a huge mural, “Vibe” at Cows Lane, Reading. It is an underpass and walkway that is opposite the Reading Festival site. It was created with permission from NWR @networkrail and sponsored by Brewers Decorator Centres @brewerspaints. A BIG thank you to both.
The Big idea!
A mural at Cows Lane, opposite the site at Reading Festival and the Thames at Caversham.
35m in length x 3m high on each side of the tunnel.
The mural on one side represents the river, meadows, nature and green spaces of Reading.
On the other side, the focus is the Reading Festival – the headline acts, tents, crowds, music and two tableaux of an angel and a butterfly that the festival goers can stand in front of to be photographed.
Only five colours were used. The mural features a figurative and cartoon style of painting that plays to a psychedelic vibe.
The site at Cows Lane, Reading, UK
The underpass connects West Reading to Caversham and Reading station. It has a footfall of 500+ pedestrians, cyclists and schoolchildren daily.
It is opposite the Reading Festival site, which has over 100,000 visitors.
It is a known site for graffiti tagging.
The response to the work from people walking through has been incredible. “The space is transformed”, “I used to dread walking through the tunnel … not anymore” “The mural brightens my day”.
